Memorial Parade

In June of 2003 the Society organised a memorial parade in memory of the victims of the events of the 27/28th June 1970. Ever since 2003 this parade has been held annually on the last Saturday of June and is an invite only parade to loyalist marching bands.

The Society could make this an open invitation event but we feel that the limited amount of bands bears better reflection to the memory of the victims.

The memorial parade is always well attended by families of the victims as well as many local people who come out and support the parade as many still can remember the event and is a part of the local community’s history.

Once the memorial parade makes is short route around east Belfast and all bands pass at the Societies memorial garden then the local minister Mervyn Gibson delivers a short but very hard hitting speech that summaries the events of that night back in 1970 and also some hard hitting evidence of the double standards of the British Government etc.

Below you can see a few photographs taken from the latest parade (2007) which shows some of the bands with wreaths, supporters laying wreaths in the memorial garden for the victims of the Murder in Ballymacarrett story.
