During the winter of 2003 the society spent many hours debating how best we could decorate east Belfast during the marching season in 2004. Our starting point was that whatever we did the symbols used must: -
Eventually it was decided that the banners were the best way forward. We quickly sourced a local supplier for both the banners and the brackets. The banners were designed using the following symbols: -
With the help of local businesses, the loyal orders and bands both local and from elsewhere the banners were erected along the main parade route in east Belfast, Templemore Avenue.

The scheme was a success with just over 60 banners sponsored and the scheme receiving praise from all sections of our community. Other areas have done the same including Sandy Row in south Belfast.
